Understory Wellness
Supporting resilience, belonging and mental health within the living system of human relationships— across individuals, families, and organizations.
Founded and led by Ali Danch, MPH, MSW
A Living Systems Approach to Human Development
Human development unfolds within a living system of relationships—shaped by the individuals, families, environments, and structures we move through.
The Understory Method™
The Understory Method™ is a relational, systems-based approach to change, grounded in the understanding that human development occurs within a living network of relationships through the lifespan.
What we experience internally is shaped by the systems we move through—our families, partnerships, communities, and environments, and how these change and shift over time.
Rather than working solely at the level of the individual, this approach attends to the broader relational field—bringing awareness to the patterns and dynamics that shape how we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and one another.
By working with both the individual and the system, this method supports more integrated, sustainable change.
This work takes shape across individuals, relationships, and organizations.
Understory Wellness™ supports individuals, families, and organizations navigating complexity, growth, and change—working within the systems that shape how people think, feel, and relate.

Working Beneath the Surface
Meaningful change begins beneath the surface.
Like the understory of a forest—quiet, protected, and rich with possibility—lasting growth depends on the conditions that support it.
This work creates space to slow down, to see more clearly, and to move with greater intention.
